January is National Mentoring Month, a time to spotlight the transformative impact of mentorship on individuals and communities. At Girls Inc., we deeply appreciate the role our mentors play in shaping and inspiring our strong, smart, and bold community of girls. This month, we are honoring five exceptional young women who have not only been supported by mentors here at Girls Inc., but who have also served as mentors themselves, guiding young people through personal and professional challenges and inspiring them to realize their full potential.

Snigdha, a Brand Ambassador and proud alumna of Girls Inc. of Alberta, has experienced the profound impact of mentorship from both sides. Having been a mentee herself, she now embraces the opportunity to mentor others, paying forward the guidance and support she once received. “The connections Girls Inc. provides are everlasting and truly change how I see the world and everyone in it. It fuels a sense of friendship and sisterhood that Girls Inc. mentors are uniquely able to provide.” 

Mia, a Brand Ambassador for Girls Inc. of San Antonio, is dedicated to paying forward the confidence and support she has received from three remarkable women who have been instrumental in her journey. “I love and want to give back to Ms. Sherry, Ms. Lea, and Ms. Belen— they are some of my biggest supporters, and I am not sure who I’d be without them. The three of them taught me how to be confident in myself and go for opportunities that I wouldn’t have considered otherwise.” Receiving mentorship through Girls Inc. has shown Mia the powerful impact of having a close-knit, supportive community and the importance of giving back to others in the same way she was supported.

Skye, a Brand Ambassador from Girls Inc. of Orange County has been greatly impacted by her Duke University mentors, who demonstrated powerful leadership skills and a passion for higher education. “Mentoring Month means recognizing the hard work that these community leaders do each and every day and understanding the impact they have on young girls like me. Mentors ensure that future generations are provided with guidance from people who understand them.” 

Sloan, a Brand Ambassador from Girls Inc. of Sarasota, has been deeply inspired by a remarkable and impactful woman who has played a significant role in her life.“One woman who stands out is Ms. Claudia, the Sarasota Teen Program Coordinator. She inspires me to step out of my comfort zone and be adventurous. I would have never tried so many things if it weren’t for her constantly pushing me to be my best self!”
