Girls Inc. Network At-A-Glance
Our Approach to Research
When you know better, you do better.” -Maya Angelou
That’s why Girls Inc. is committed to learning: about the strengths and needs of our girls, and to know what’s working and where we can improve our programs. We use the latest evidence to drive quality improvement, sustainability, and advocacy efforts to inspire transformative action to support ALL girls in being Strong, Smart & Bold.
State of Girls Inc. Girls
Strong, Smart, and Bold Outcomes Survey
Each year, the Girls Inc. Network engages in our Strong, Smart, and Bold Outcomes Survey (SSBOS) for all participants ages 9-18. This annual opportunity to hear directly from girls about their skills and attitudes across more than 30 key indicators of positive development, drives our ability to be responsive and supportive. From shaping our programs, to prioritizing key advocacy efforts, and exploring strategic partnerships, the SSBOS allows us to keep girl voice at the center of our work.

State of All Girls
To support improving the lives of all girls, Girls Inc. seeks to provide accurate and up-to-date information on the lived experiences of girls and young women throughout the United States and Canada. Focused on experiences that Girls Inc. addresses through its mission and girl-focused programming, we hope this resource can help shed light on the many ways we can make a better, more just future for all girls.
The Girls Inc. Difference
Girls Inc. girls outperform peers on key indicators.
From 2017 to 2019, the American Institutes for Research implemented a quasi-experimental research study with four Girls Inc. affiliates and their school districts in small, medium, and large communities that were reflective of the larger Girls Inc. Network.
The results are compelling and offer strong evidence that Girls Inc. changes the trajectory of girls’ lives and sets them up for life-long success.
