Girls Inc. is a proud grantee partner for Red Nose Day 2020.
Red Nose Day is a campaign with the mission to end child poverty by raising money and funding programs that keep children safe, healthy, and educated. Since its debut in 2015, Red Nose Day USA has raised $200 million and positively impacted more than 25 million children around the world. Girls Inc. is pleased to announce our participation in this year’s Red Nose Day programming.
The impact of COVID-19
This year, the need is especially great. More than 55 million children in America are being impacted by COVID-19. This pandemic affects everyone, but no one as much as children living in poverty. Social distancing is a luxury many of our families simply don’t have. Parents, who have a direct impact on the safety and health of our most vulnerable children, can’t afford to stay at home and self-isolate.
For millions of students in the United States, and many millions more across the world, being out of school deprives our children of access to quality education, but also consistent meals, a safe place to be, and opportunities for economic mobility and advancement. The impacts of being out of school now for so many children may last a lifetime.
Tune in and take part
Watch and participate in Red Nose Day on NBC on May 21, 2020 at 8pm ET. It will be the first-ever virtual Red Nose event with special guests Jack Black and Ben Stiller, among others, as they help to raise money for children in need. Instead of red noses found and purchased in stores, the first-ever digital Red Nose has been created with support from Walgreens. Visit NosesOn.com to donate and unlock your digital Red Nose in support of ending child poverty.
Across the country, the children who needed us before the pandemic, need us more than ever right now. We may be apart but we’re coming together with Red Nose Day USA to change the story for children. Mark your calendars now to tune in for all of the Red Nose Day programming airing on NBC on May 21. Together, Girls Inc. stands with our supporters, our community, and our partner Red Nose Day USA to change the story for children. Noses on!
