Girls Inc. formalizes National Partnership with the Period Education Project (PEP)

We are thrilled to announce that Girls Inc. has formalized a national partnership with the Period Education Project (PEP), a 501(c)(3) created by the physician founders of Girlology, Inc. to improve access to essential menstrual health education, close gaps in women’s health, and engage future doctors in experiences that promote health equity. PEP’s programs are designed to educate and inspire all menstruators to overcome barriers to physical and mental wellness related to menstrual health. They accomplish this by hosting no-cost educational and medically-accurate period education workshops (PEP rallies) delivered virtually or in person by passionate medical students representing diverse backgrounds from select schools across the country.

In 2023, twenty-three Girls Inc. Affiliates hosted PEP rallies. The expansion of the  partnership aims to strengthen our shared mission to improve the health and well-being of many young people, remove barriers to evidence-based menstrual health education, reduce taboo and stigma related to periods, promote autonomy and confidence, and help eliminate period poverty in our communities. When youth understand menstrual health, they face their cycles with more confidence and less anxiety.

Through this National partnership more Girls Inc. Affiliates across the U.S. and Canada will:

  • have the opportunity to conduct in-person or virtual PEP rallies
  • gain access to evidence-based, physician-created resources
  • expose Girls Inc. youth to STEM through medical students leading PEP rallies
  • benefit from medical expertise around menstrual health to support advocacy and policy initiatives
