On Monday, November 17th, we honored the women and men from the Los Angeles entertainment community who are partnering with Girls Inc. to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.

Brenda Freeman
Chief Marketing Officer

Young Adults & Kids Media

Freeman currently provides overall vision and leadership to all areas of marketing, on-air, and trade creative services that support Turner cable television networks Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang, along with their online businesses, and the digital enterprises GameTap. She has previously held various executive marketing and strategic positions at MTV Networks, ABC Radio Networks, PepsiCo, and Mobil Oil.



Lisa Ling

Special Correspondent to The Oprah Winfrey Show
Contributor to National Geographic, Nightline, and CNN

A television journalist for nearly two decades, Ling has reported from more than two dozen countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran, raising consciousness about global issues often ignored by mainstream media, particularly women’s and children’s issues. Previously she has served as a co-host of the hit daytime talk show The View and as one of the youngest reporters for Channel One News.



Lisa C. Paulsen

Entertainment Industry Foundation

As head of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, an organization representing the collective philanthropy of the television and film businesses, Paulsen has enlisted some of Hollywood’s most powerful entertainment leaders, celebrated actors, and industry employees to volunteer time and talent to raise awareness and funds for critical health, education, and social issues.  Under her leadership, EIF’s annual charitable budget has grown from $1.8 million to close to $100 million. She is also a co-founder of Stand Up To Cancer, an EIF initiative dedicated to accelerating ground-breaking cancer research and bringing new therapies to patients.



Katherine Pope

Pope currently oversees Universal Media Studios programming, including some of television’s highest-rated scripted series, such as House, Heroes, the Law & Order dramas, Friday Night Lights, and the Emmy-winning comedies The Office and 30 Rock.  Prior to her appointment as President of Universal Media Studios, she worked in various programming executive capacities at NBC Entertainment and the former NBC Studios. Pope previously worked as a writer and producer for VH-1's Behind the Music, as a writer and producer of documentaries for CBS and as an associate producer for A&E's Biography.

Season ticket holders of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks since its inception, Christofferson and Goodman transformed their love of basketball into a business venture when they purchased the team in 2006.

Christofferson is Managing Partner of the Los Angeles office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP. She has been recognized as a Southern California “Super Lawyer” in a survey by Law & Politics Media Inc.

Goodman currently teaches high school English and Social Studies at High Tech-LA, a local charter school. Previously, she served as a partner at the law firm of Katten Muchin Zavis and Weitzman and was a founder of Intermedia Films.
