Girls Inc. staff and girls were guests of First Lady Michelle Obama on March 8, 2011, the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day. Mrs. Obama, who is Honorary Chair of Girls Inc., marked this day by acknowledging women of courage from around the world and the importance of investing in girls abroad and in the United States. “We as a nation benefit from every girl whose potential is fulfilled; from every woman whose talent is tapped. We as a nation benefit from their intelligence, from their hard work, from their creativity, from their leadership,” she said.
