How can I start a Girls Inc. in my community?
Girls Inc. recognizes the huge number of girls who could benefit from the Girls Inc. Experience. We know that this experience, consisting of trained staff, a pro-girl, girls-only environment, and research-based programming, can be life-changing. However, we also know how difficult it is to start and sustain a local nonprofit. Once a Girls Inc. is formed in a new community, it is of primary importance that it is high-quality and that it last, for the sake of the girls served, and for us as a network. For this reason, at this point, anyone interested in starting a Girls Inc. affiliate must already have an incorporated nonprofit organization that has been serving girls for five years. If you have such a nonprofit, or would like more information about our process, please contact Chrissy Kramer at 317-634-7546 x190 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I bring Girls Inc. to my community without starting a nonprofit?
If you are anywhere near an existing Girls Inc., they may be able to expand into your community. Before reaching out, think about how the expansion could be funded to meet the needs in your area. As a separately incorporated nonprofit, each local Girls Inc. must identify the resources to provide programming and services to girls.
