As I complete my tenure as Girls Inc. National Board Chair, I am grateful to have served an organization that values girls, introduces them to new possibilities, and motivates them to overcome any barriers.
In the last year, I have had the great responsibility and pleasure of leading a seamless CEO leadership succession and a network-wide commitment to executing our new five-year strategic growth plan.
We began putting this plan into practice embraced by our affiliates, nearly 40 percent of whom have approved detailed local plans in alignment with our national direction, with more progressing towards that goal.
With a commitment to grow our reach, we took a deep look at the national and local board leadership required for this long-term foundation. This included first-rate oversight, resourceful and creative thinking, and an innovative value-add approach to investment.
The Girls Inc. Board of Directors stepped up. We made certain that the organization exceeded its objectives in every area against year one goals. We also raised an unprecedented one-third of operating funds.
We stand committed to continuing this progress. We must hold ourselves accountable to achieving the highest standards of performance and transparency for the benefit of our girls and their families, our investors, donors, and partners.
It has been my honor to serve Girls Inc. as Board Chair. As a corporate executive and a mother, I will always be passionate about how we support girls in leading educated, happy, and successful lives. The girls we serve today are tomorrow’s business, government, scientific, and community innovators.
I am thrilled to welcome to this role Ellen Stafford-Sigg, a 13-year board member with an unyielding commitment to unlocking the highest potential in girls matched with brilliant strategic thinking. I look forward to new successes achieved through her thoughtful leadership.
It is truly a time of new beginnings at Girls Inc. As the organization continues to grow and thrive, I hope you join us in providing unparalleled opportunities that inspire girls to transform our world.
