Girls Inc. Teaches Addysanne to Be a Leader

Addysanne had trouble seeing her potential because she witnessed other girls in her community engage in risky behavior instead of focusing on their education. She wasn’t sure how to take control of her future and underestimated her own abilities.

At Girls Inc., Addysanne found a safe space to explore her future and mentors who encouraged her to focus on her education and seek out leadership opportunities. She discovered her passion for technology and computer science through the Girls Inc. stem programming. By the age of 14, she was teaching girls in 3rd and 4th grade to code. In high school, she became one of the youngest girls on the Girls Inc. staff because of her ardent leadership. As a staff member, she became a regular public speaker and learned the ins and outs of running a program..

Addysanne plans on getting a degree in social work and minoring in business administration at an accredited university, while still pursuing her interest in computer science. Her dream is to become the CEO of Girls Inc. Owensboro-Daviess County, giving back the mentorship and support she received as a girl to her community.

“Girls Inc. saw potential in me I never knew about myself. They fueled the potential with opportunities I never would have had elsewhere - like college engineering camps, taking over office IT jobs and encouraging me to participate in any and every training they had available on site and off.”
